French racing star Pierre Ragues will contest his second rally event in the space of one month as he gets back behind the wheel of a Skoda Fabia S2000 for this weekend’s Rallye du Coutancais.
Ragues was instantly competitive in his first rally outing in February as he, co-driven by his father Marcel, stormed to third place in Rallye National de la Côte Fleurie. Rallying has since become a real passion for the French ace as he looks to improve in this weekend’s local event.
The rally, which will have a home flavour for Ragues taking place in his region of France, sees drivers contest two special stages repeated four times. A total of 110 rally kilometres over one single day, Saturday, will determine the overall winner of this 29th Rallye du Coutancais.
The rally gets underway today, Friday, with a recce with Pierre hoping to emulate his results from last month when the first stage begins on Saturday morning.
“I am really thrilled to be competing in a second rally behind the wheel of the fantastic Skoda Fabia S2000,” he said. “I had a lot of fun last time out and finished in a very encouraging third place, so I hope that experience will help me do even better this weekend. It is another local event to me which really gives me confidence and a nice boost. I have really started to enjoy rallying and it’s something I can see myself doing more of in the future, so it’s great to have this opportunity. I am really looking forward to today’s recce and the first stages on Saturday.”
